全民彩票网snydergovWith less than 48 hours left in a lame duck session, the Michigan Legislature passed two Industrial Hemp bills off to Governor Snyder for his signature.

, introduced by Rep. Kevin Daley, a Republican from Lapeer County, creates the “Industrial Hemp Research Act” to allow the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) or a college or university in the State to grow or cultivate, or both, Industrial Hemp for research purposes.

was introduced by Rep. Peter Pettalia, a Republican from Presque Isle County.  It will amend the Public Health Code to specify that marihuana does not include Industrial Hemp being grown and/or cultivated for research purposes under the Industrial Hemp Research Act.

Governor Snyder must sign or veto the legislation within 14 days after transmittal, or it becomes law without signature.  However, If the legislature adjourns prior to the end of the 14-day time period, the governor’s failure to act results in a pocket veto.  The Legislature ended their session on December 18th, the day after the bills were transmitted.
